Island Stewardship Honours Announced

Individuals and groups from Salt Spring and
Galiano islands were given the 2004 Islands Trust Community
Stewardship Awards,
following deliberations at Trust Council's quarterly meeting
on Bowen Island.
Council decided to give the group awards to
the Island Stream and Salmon Enhancement Society for its watershed
and stream restoration work and to Salt Spring Residents for
Responsible Land Use for its work in the preservation of Walker
Hook.
The individual category awards go to Ken Millard
of Galiano Island for his ongoing work as the director of
the Galiano Conservancy, and to Tom Gossett of Salt Spring
for his many years of watershed protection work.
Stewardship awards acknowledging community members
support of the Islands Trust preserve and protect mandate
have been granted for the past three years.
